Dog Days of Summer

We took the morning off work, and had an "us" day. Jim cooked us breakfast out on the fire (sausage, eggs and pancakes). We enjoyed eating by the creek behind our house. It was wonderfully peaceful watching the birds flit here and there and listening to the water gurgle past. Ahh....

Then we took the dogs up one of the canyons to play in the river. We all had fun. Here is a pic of Jim throwing a stick (upper left corner) in the river for the dogs. The dogs are lined up nicely ready to leap. Mac, our 11-month old puppy is in front. Star, the 9-year old female, is in the middle. McGee, the 6-year old male, is in the back. All are border collies. The older two are sporting their summer haircuts.

Before we headed home I went swimming in the lake with the dogs. See pic. Jim remained on shore to take the pictures. For the record, yes, the water is quite cool. However, you get used to it, and then don't notice the cold at all ... that is probably after hypothermia sets in. Ha!!

That's all the news for today. Below are some nature pictures I have taken recently. The cloud pic was taken last week. The other two was today. Hope you enjoy!

Evanston, WY & the Uintahs

Couple of weekends ago, we took off for Evanston, WY. It had been years since we had seen the horses race! The weather was perfect: not too hot, not too cool. We had a lot of fun!
There was a lot of very pretty horses. However, there was one in particular that made my eyes pop. Yep, a big, steel dust, QH gelding sent my heart racing. hehehe Unfortunately, I didn't have the camera to take pictures. He also won his race! Yipee, I picked a winner! (Should've placed more than a $2 bet, cause the odds were pretty good. Oh well.)
We took the relaxing and scenic back roads home. We drove through the Uintah Mountains down to Kamas. This is a picture of one of the many gorgeous views through the Uintahs. Of note, the Uintah mountain range is one of the few East - West running mountain ranges. Most run North - South.
